Education

  • NYU Gallatin School of Individualized Study - The Gallatin School of Individualized Study is an innovative and interdisciplinary graduate program at NYU for the focused and disciplined student who wishes to cross the boundaries of education by creating a unique program of study. The Gallatin student works closely with a faculty adviser to design a tailor-made M.A. degree program that can draw from several disciplines in the various NYU graduate schools. All courses selected must be integrated around a particular theme, problem, artistic endeavor, or professional activity. The Gallatin student also has the option to include independent studies, internships, and private lessons as part of the curriculum. While Gallatin is a flexible program, certain required courses ensure that our students are well-prepared to pursue a self-designed study. A master’s thesis is the final requirement and may be in the form of an extended research paper, an artistic work, or a professional project.
