The 2015 Land & Water Summit – Watershed CPR @ Sheraton Airport Hotel
Feb 19 – Feb 20 all-day

The 2015 Land & Water Summit – Watershed CPR

Watershed CPR: Restoring Natural, Built and Human Environments
Watershed Health is everyone’s concern. Our watersheds are in great need of resuscitation and this year Land & Water Summit will concentrate on learning about ways to improve watershed health. Just as we have learned to recognize signs of illness in our community and provide aid when necessary, so we must learn to recognize the signs of distressed environments and how to cure those ills. This year’s Summit will explore options for enhancing watershed management, reducing human impact through the efficient use of water, and illustrating the connections between the watershed and all of its inhabitants. Living in a watershed means not only recognizing its limits and assisting in keeping it clean and healthy—it means teaching others to do the same. Join us to discuss ways we can revive our watersheds.

With one of the strongest waste recycling programs and a strong commitment to developing alternative transportation and energy initiatives, we look forward to growing with this green city. Through EnvironmentLA, the city offers a Green Business Certification in addition to establishing programs and projects to make Los Angeles a more environmentally-friendly city. In the last 10 years alone, the City of Los Angeles has planted over 28,000 trees and each year it diverts 5.8 million tons of trash for reuse/recycling.

GREEN Festivals 2015 – SF

Cow Place, San Francisco, CA

Green Festival San Francisco is our longest-running show and we are thrilled to be returning to the city for the 14th consecutive year. With city-wide recycling, composting and energy efficiency programs, San Francisco leads the nation in establishing one of the most eco-friendly communities. The San Francisco Department of the Environment has received many accolades for their work including a United Nations award for best green building policies of any city in the world. All city departments are required to buy from an approved list of environmentally preferable or “green” products. SF Environment has also established Environment Now a green jobs training program that provides leadership development and on-the-job training to workers from the city’s most underserved neighborhoods.

GREEN Festivals 2015 – Portland

Convention Center, Portland, OR

Our newest addition to the Green Festival lineup, Portland is literally one of the greenest cities in the nation. With more than 10,510 acres of parks, Portland is ranked by numerous sources as one of America’s Greenest Cities. Portlanders recycle 63 percent of their waste, the highest rate in the nation. Additionally, Portland has the nation’s highest and fastest-growing percentage of bicycle commuters. We look forward to bringing Green Festival to the Oregon Convention Center, the first convention center in the nation to receive the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED-EB (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Existing Buildings) certification. The Oregon Convention Center features a “Rain Garden” that collects storm water from the facility’s roof and filters it through an attractive system of rock terraces, pools and soil, helping to prevent environmental pollutants from reaching the adjacent Willamette River.
