Waterkeepers Annual Conference
Jun 10 – Jun 14 all-day

Millennium Harvest House, Boulder, Colorado

Waterkeepers Annual Conference

The Colorado River is the primary water supply for millions of people in Western States and Mexico, and this crucial watershed is currently inundated by thousands of proposed oil and gas wells, tar sands, oil shale and other dirty energy projects that threaten to pollute precious water supplies and the habitat for thousands of species of fish and wildlife. New proposed water diversions of Colorado River waters in the headwaters also threaten to dry up flows downstream for people and wildlife, even as drought grips the lower portions of the basin and rising air temperatures are shrinking headwater snowpacks and reducing water flows, thereby compounding the impacts of this land and water pollution and proposed river diversions.
Assembling nearly 300 Waterkeepers will bring global attention to the issues of the region and the issues of Waterkeepers across the globe. The conference will include four days of training workshops, inspiring speakers, and networking to help Waterkeepers learn and strategize about these and other vital watershed issues such as climate change mitigation, storm water pollution, water diversions, and more throughout the globe.

GREEN Festivals 2015 – LA

Convention Center, Los Angeles, CA

Now in our 5th year in Los Angeles, this festival has turned out to be one of best events! With one of the strongest waste recycling programs and a strong commitment to developing alternative transportation and energy initiatives, we look forward to growing with this green city. Through EnvironmentLA, the city offers a Green Business Certification in addition to establishing programs and projects to make Los Angeles a more environmentally-friendly city. In the last 10 years alone, the City of Los Angeles has planted over 28,000 trees and each year it diverts 5.8 million tons of trash for reuse/recycling.

American Water Summit: Scalable Solutions
Oct 20 – Oct 21 all-day

Hyatt Regency Tech Center, Denver, CO

American Water Summit: Scalable Solutions

This is an exciting time for the water industry in North America. The sector has demonstrated great creativity in the past 24 months, developing new approaches to project financing and operations and rising to the range of challenges that it faces. Each of these obstacles is regional and requires unique techniques, but for the industry to really thrive, however, it is critical that we can move beyond having to continuously reinvent the wheel. We need to create scalable solutions.
Leaders from different spaces speak different languages but everyone has the same needs and desires: a thriving water industry to underpin a strong and resilient 21st century economy. The American Water Summit, now in its 6th year, brings together senior executives and top decision makers from water, energy, finance, technologies and cities to talk about the business of water in an environment which allows for maximum understanding.

The San Francisco Department of the Environment has received many accolades for their work including a United Nations award for best green building policies of any city in the world. All city departments are required to buy from an approved list of environmentally preferable or “green” products. SF Environment has also established Environment Now a green jobs training program that provides leadership development and on-the-job training to workers from the city’s most underserved neighborhoods.

GREEN Festivals 2015 – Portland

GREEN Festivals 2015 – Portland

Convention Center, Portland, OR

Our newest addition to the Green Festival lineup, Portland is literally one of the greenest cities in the nation. With more than 10,510 acres of parks, Portland is ranked by numerous sources as one of America’s Greenest Cities. Portlanders recycle 63 percent of their waste, the highest rate in the nation. Additionally, Portland has the nation’s highest and fastest-growing percentage of bicycle commuters. We look forward to bringing Green Festival to the Oregon Convention Center, the first convention center in the nation to receive the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED-EB (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Existing Buildings) certification. The Oregon Convention Center features a “Rain Garden” that collects storm water from the facility’s roof and filters it through an attractive system of rock terraces, pools and soil, helping to prevent environmental pollutants from reaching the adjacent Willamette River.
